Why Your Vehicle Needs Paint Protection Film

Driving in the GTA takes a toll on your paint. From the gravel on the 401 to winter road salt and intense UV rays, your vehicle’s clear coat is under constant attack. Paint Protection Film (often called “Clear Bra”) is a transparent, urethane material applied to the exterior of your vehicle.

It is the only product on the market that physically protects your paint from damage while remaining virtually invisible.

  • Self-Healing Technology: Swirl marks and light scratches vanish with heat from the sun or your engine.

  • Impact Resistance: Deflects flying stones, road debris, and bug splatter that cause permanent chips.

  • Stain Resistance: Hydrophobic properties repel dirt, oil, and bird droppings, keeping your car cleaner for longer.

  • UV Defense: Prevents your paint from fading or oxidizing over time.

What is Paint Protection Film (PPF)?

PPF absorbs impacts from road hazards, preventing damage to the underlying paint. Many high-quality films feature self-healing technology, where minor scratches and swirl marks disappear when exposed to heat (from the sun, warm water, or engine warmth).

Is PPF worth the investment?

Yes, especially for new or high-value vehicles. It preserves your paint’s showroom condition, maintains resale value by preventing chips and scratches, and can save money on future paint repairs. It’s particularly beneficial if you drive on highways frequently or in areas with harsh road conditions.

What are the common coverage options?
  • Partial Front: Covers the bumper, partial hood (usually 18-24 inches), partial fenders, and mirrors.
  • Full Front: Includes full hood, full fenders, full bumper, and headlights.
  • Full Vehicle: Complete coverage for ultimate protection. Custom packages are also available for specific high-impact areas like rockers, doors, or roof.
How long does PPF last?

Premium typically lasts 7-10 years or more with proper care. Most come with a manufacturer’s warranty against yellowing, cracking, bubbling, or delamination.

How is PPF installed?

It’s a professional “wet” installation process using a slip solution to position the pre-cut or custom film, then squeegeeing out air and liquid for a seamless bond. Installation takes 1-5 days depending on coverage, and we recommend leaving your vehicle with us for the best results.

Can I wash my car after PPF installation?

Wait at least 48-72 hours (or up to 7 days for full curing) before washing. After that, hand washing with pH-neutral soap is best. Avoid automatic car washes with brushes, and be cautious with high-pressure washers near edges to prevent lifting.

How do I maintain and clean PPF?

  • Use gentle, non-abrasive car shampoo and microfiber mitts.
  • Dry with a soft microfiber towel or blower.
  • Avoid products containing naphtha, kerosene, or harsh chemicals.
  • Waxing is optional (non-abrasive only); many films have hydrophobic top coats for easy cleaning.
  • For self-healing activation, use warm water or park in the sun.
Can I apply ceramic coating over PPF?

Yes! Ceramic coating enhances hydrophobicity, gloss, and ease of cleaning without affecting the film’s protection. It’s a popular add-on for even better maintenance.

Is PPF removable, and will it damage my paint?

Yes, PPF can be professionally removed without damaging factory paint if done correctly (using heat/steam). It often leaves the original paint in better condition than unprotected areas.

Does PPF yellow or change the car's appearance?

High-quality modern PPF is virtually invisible and won’t yellow over time due to UV stabilizers. Gloss films maintain shine; matte/satin options are available to change or preserve a factory matte look.

What's the difference between PPF and ceramic coating?

PPF provides physical impact protection (chips/scratches) with thickness and self-healing. Ceramic coating adds chemical resistance, hydrophobicity, and gloss but offers minimal impact protection. Many owners combine both for maximum results.
